(var. menziesii) Upright native evergreen conifer, becoming broad and irregularly shaped with age. Ascending branches and dark green foliage, eventually 80-200′ tall. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. Sun to part shade. A pioneer species that grows fast after a disturbance such as a fire or clearing. Important timber species.
