Narrow when young, but spreading with age, forming a symmetrical oval crown to 40′. The clean, fine foliage goes from deep green to a rich purple-red in fall, contrasting nicely with the light colored bark. Sun, not picky about soil. Popular street and garden tree. Fairly drought tolerant once established.
