Smaller than the more common Persion Ironwood, Chinese Ironwood will form a large shrub or small tree, growing to 15′ in 20 or more years. The leaves emerge green with a slight red edge. Fall color is brilliant red. The bark on older trees is very ornamental, flaking off in jigsaw patterns. Very adaptable.
