(Syn. Berberis repens) Spiny blue-green foliage on a shrublet to 1′ tall. Spreads underground to form a groundcover. Bright yellow flower clusters in early spring followed by mildly edible blue berries. Sun to deep shade, drought and deer resistant. Any reasonably well-drained soil. Extremely tough. Native primarily to the East of the Cascades, from B.C to California. A Great Plant Pick.
