Symphyotrichum subspicatum

Late-blooming native aster in shades of blue, purple, or white on erect stems to 4′ tall. Very attractive to pollinators August to October. Host plant to many butterflies and moths. Spreads by underground rhizomes, quite aggressive – give plenty of room. Tolerant of almost any soil including wet soil, saline, and polluted. Drought resistant once established. Good sun.
