North American native perennial sunflower. Narrow linear leaves on stems rising to 7′, topped in autumn with a profusion of golden yellow sunflowers. Spreads via rhizomes. Needs full sun and a warm site to flower in our mild climate. Easy to grow in most well-drained soils. Edible tuber.
