A large shrub or small tree, native to coastal regions ofsouthern Alaska, south to northern California. Tolerant of wet soil, and often found in wetlands or at the edge. Grows eventually to 30′ or so. Spring flowers of white are followed by small, somewhat sour fruit that ripens in August-September. Good wildlife plant.
