10″ orb-like flower clusters of metallic purple rise above the strap-shaped basal leaves in early summer. Very showy in bloom and as a dried seedhead. May self-seed, but not invasively in Whatcom county. Best grown in sun, well-drained soil. Very deer and rabbit resistant due to its onion smell.
Hardy to zone 4
