The Tea Oil Camellia is a hardy, evergreen shrub, growing up to 12′ tall. It is popular in China for its seeds, which produce a flavorful and nutritious cooking oil. In fall it produces abundant white flowers against large, dark green foliage. Like the Tea Camellia, its leaves can be used to brew tea. Partial shade in moist, acidic soil. Protect from harsh winter winds.
